What Does Kia's Warranty Include?

Additionally, Kia provides an industry-leading powertrain warranty lasting 10 years or 100,000 miles2, covering critical components like the engine, transmission, transaxle, axle, differentials, and propeller shafts.
Are All Components Covered for the Same Duration?
While most parts fall under the standard warranty periods, certain components have different coverage terms. The original battery and audio/entertainment system are protected for three years or 36,000 miles. The air conditioning refrigerant charge has coverage for 12 months with unlimited mileage. Can I Transfer My Warranty to a New Owner?

However, when the vehicle is sold to a second owner, the powertrain coverage reduces to five years or 60,000 miles from the original in-service date. What Exclusions Should I Know About?
Like all manufacturer warranties, Kia's coverage has specific exclusions. The warranty does not cover normal wear-and-tear items such as brake pads, tires, and windshield wiper blades that have deteriorated from frequent trips down I-480. Damage from accidents, misuse, environmental factors like hail or road salt, and issues arising from lack of proper maintenance are also excluded. Consumer-caused damage, including spills or burns on interior surfaces, falls outside warranty protection.
Do I Need to Service My Vehicle at a Kia Dealership?
While you're not required to have maintenance performed exclusively at Kia dealerships, following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule is crucial for maintaining warranty validity. You can use any licensed repair facility, but be sure to keep detailed service records to protect your coverage. If you come to our Service Department, then you won’t even have to worry about this.
